I wanted to do a short post, as today is 4 months since Nik arrived home from Russia! Sadly, my father passed away 2 days ago, and we are working on funeral preparations and grieving.
Nik continues to be a blessing to us. He amazes me with his ability to learn. He speaks only English now. He is difficult to understand due to his accent, but communication is much easier. He knows most of his colors and many letters, numbers, and shapes. His preschool teaches Spanish and the other day, he counted to 5 in Spanish for us. After that, Brent prompted him to count to 5 in Russian, but he appeared to have forgotten how to do that. That is a little bitter-sweet. I hate for him to lose the language of his first 3 years, but we really have no way to help him maintain it.
Nik is a happy boy and continues to become more and more affectionate. We love him very much. Here are a few pictures of activities of the month... We celebrated Maddie's 9th birthday, went to the Rainforest Cafe, went to the zoo, went to the aquarium, and celebrated Valentine's Day! Nik also began swim lessons.
